If there is one good thing about March, it is the NCAA tournament. I always run a bracket in my office and with the family. I usually lose them all, but I love playing so whatever. This year has been no exception. I generally have a bit of a clue about who is good and who is not but this year has been so busy that I did not even know which teams would be in. Seemingly this blind selection has helped me as I'm doing pretty well in my work league. We're still angling for a Kentucky loss...even if that means rooting for Notre Dame. Yes, that's how much we hate UK.
"I'll cheer for your chair, Mom!"
No better way to chill after a long run than to watch the tourney!
We hired a designer to help us with the townhouse's design. We spent a whole afternoon picking out flooring or bathroom stuff, paint colors and cabinets. You name it, we picked it out. The designer was an excellent idea and saved us from getting into even a single argument. I know, right? Picking out this kind of stuff should be a premarital counseling must.

In the end, though, we did all that selection for not. We cannot legally speak about what happened with our builder, but we opted not to continue to build and got all of our money back. What is that? We're back to being homeless soon? Yes, we are.
Life for the foreseeable future
We've both been pretty busy at work (OK, one of us has been slammed with actual projects and the other needs to keep up on his expense reports a little better) so our kitchen table has been doubling as an office. We are beyond ready for April 15th to come and go already!!
Life has not been exciting. It has been cold. It has been tax season. We have taken a few cute photos, though, so I'll share those.
Madison keeping Jackson's lap warm
MacKenzie hiding under the blankets trying to get warm
We got a new exercise machine. MacKenzie is not impressed.
"What IS that thing?"
Jackson after finishing a long run at the gym
Jackson has been prepping for his marathon. He's ready for it to be over so he can stop running so much. The other day I rode my bike and acted as his road crew as he put in 16 miles. I was so impressed with his dedication to this! I'm also ready for it be over so I don't have to ride in circles on my bike to kill time. HA! :)
This year has flown by! I just cannot believe my little girl (you know, since I set her parents up she's clearly half mine) is already ONE!!
I flipped back through photos and my heart just exploded with love. We've enjoyed watching this teeny tiny 4 pound baby grown into a fiesty little lady! She's so much fun and has such a personality. We just love her!
SO tiny!
Breaking in Uncle Jackson
Ears pierced!
Dance party!
Pretty girl!
Princess Joss!!
I hope you have the best birthday ever, Josslyn Bates!! LOVE YOU!
We got about six feet of snow Saturday night into Sunday. Ok, I hear it was more like 8 inches. Anyway, it was a lot. We did what any other adults would do on a snowy Sunday: we laced up our snow boots and went out to play in it with our dog! Duh.
Now, I hate snow when I am driving it in. But snow on a Sunday when you're safe at home? I'm OK with that! We played and played with MacKenzie until she was just one little snowball herself. She came in for a warm shower that I'm not sure she appreciated as much as she should have. ;)
The deck is somewhere under there
Plenty of shoveling to be done!
Agh! The puppy sunk in!
Returning the neighbor dog who came down to play!
Taking a quick break from playing
We've had our fun now, though, and the snow can melt and stay gone until next year now. Please and thank you, Mother Nature. :)
It had been months since we'd gotten to snuggle Sir Liam Mauck so we were both excited to see him (oh, and his parents- ha!) on Friday evening.
Look at that chunky baby!!! AHH!!
He was happy to chat with Jackson again, too!
The Mauck family has a big chocolate lab, Bogey, who likes baby toys just as much as the baby does. See below for an example of this:
Note: I know my baby voice is annoying. Sorry. I cannot help it. Anyway, we hung out for a bit and then packed up for Ivanhoe's. Yum!
The Mauck family!
We were a little nervous about taking a baby to Ivanhoe's on a Friday night, but Sir Liam was a champ! He didn't cry. He just hung out and tried to eat everyone's fingers. True story. He likes hands. He is such a good baby that I'm fairly certain their next kid will be satanic. Just saying'.
Hanging in Upland
MacKenzie got to spend the whole day in Upland on Friday so by the time we got there to pick her up, she was beat and sleeping in Macy's cozy little doghouse. Hilarious.
I got the photo below from three of my tax clients who are a bit tardy this year leading me to think they'd gone to *gasp* H&R Block or something. Nope. Turns out they're just a little behind this year so they made me a sign to show their love. It is pretty much my favorite thing ever.
I feel the love :)
Saturday my Mom and Guy came down to take us to dinner. We tried a BBQ place in Westfield that they'd heard about on the news. It was OK. We took them for ice cream at Graeter's in Fishers. Yum! We also showed them the model of the new townhouse we are building in the Saxony neighborhood of Fishers. Yes, we're going to own a home again. It will be in Indiana again. No, I'm not excited about that part. I'll live, though. I'm sure more posts will be coming on the building process because it looks like it will be pretty demanding of our time for the next couple of weeks. During tax season. Great. ;)
