Tax day (sort of.)

Last night Jackson and I went out to celebrate the end of individual tax season. I still have another month to go before things really slow down for me at work, but it will be nice to have my weekends back from working my second job after this final weekend!
McCormick & Schmick's is one of my favorite places downtown to eat. They had a tax day themed menu for happy hour that made me laugh. They also have the best Arnold Palmers (tea mixed with lemonade) that you'll ever taste.
The skyline looked gorgeous from the parking lot. I'm not sure if you can see the sign that reads "The plus IRS equals theirs." It was my favorite tax pun of the season.

So anyway another tax season bites the dust (kind of) and I could not be more pleased to see it go. We did not file our own return until April 10th this year. A new record in being close to the deadline for us.

I cannot believe how big our little nephew has gotten! He's huge! WAAAH!!

The Power of Words

I think this video is so moving and so very true. Words are powerful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hzgzim5m7oU&safety_mode=true&persist_safety_mode=1

Happy birthday, Kathi!

Dear Aunt Kathi,

I was going to wish you a very happy 38th birthday today, but you would not let me sit on your couch at the Coomes B&B this weekend. I have been forced to renege my well wishes.

Love,
MacKenzie

Just kidding. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KATHRYN! We hope you have a great day. We love you!!

Workin' like a dog

After spending the morning in bed feeling terrible and having Susie drive me downtown to get my laptop and work supplies (thanks again, Susie!), I'm camped out in the home office getting things done. I took a little break to switch laundry (the perks of working at home!!) and came back to MacKenzie keeping my spot warm. She cracks me up. She is truly unaware that she is a dog! I wonder how that happened? And yes, that is an EMPTY McAlister's sweet tea cup. Tear. I wish I had unlimited refills at home, too!

Baby boom

Please excuse the huge backlog of baby posts that just appeared on my blog. I promise to return to the world of being a boring old tax accountant soon. :) Is it April 18th yet?!

Illness update: We still do not have any clues on what is wrong with me. I continue to not be pregnant. Thank each and every one of you for that assumption. I'm exhausted and tired of doctor's offices already. Stay tuned and I will update you all when I know something.

One last thing. One of my favorite ladies ever is going to be having some surgery on Thursday. I wish her nothing but the best and she will have my thoughts and prayers as she prepares and endures this procedure. She knows who she is. :)

Meeting Logan

Christina (Blue) Caudell had her baby BOY on Sunday morning here in the Indianapolis area so Heidi and I went over to meet her little bundle of joy.
It just hit me that Logan was the first baby I'd ever met on the day of their birth. WOW! He will forever be in my heart now. He was 7lbs 15 oz and 20.5 inches long and just perfect. Side note: NEVER go see a newborn baby with a lady who has recently had a baby of her own. OMG. Heidi asked Christina the most wretchedly disgusting questions about the birth and other stuff. GAG. GAG. GAG. I nearly died. I just wanted to look at the end product and not think about any of the means. Thank you. :) (Our parents can thank Heidi, again, for us not reproducing!)
Momma was doing well and enjoying a salad and "having her body back!" It was so nice to see Christina and Ben on their special day. Congratulations, you two. Enjoy this special, special time. Thank you so much for sharing Logan with us! :)
