Jackson turns 40!

We spent the week before, the day of and the weekend after Jackson's 40th birthday celebrating. We'll continue celebrating in about a week in Europe and then again in Hawaii in September. This is a BIG birthday and he's a special guy!

He was really grumpy about "getting old" at first, but then chose to embrace his day and enjoy it.

All kinds of presents!

#ThisIs40

Opening presents
He got some new dress shoes, a Cubs hat, new pans, restaurant gift cards, a shirt he wanted, a new golf umbrella, two vacations. You name it. He cleaned up!
He even made himself a "birthday omelet" complete with
a candle

MacKenzie was thrilled ;)

Grammy made her a new birthday scarf to wear.
ADORABLE.
His actual birthday, May 12th, was spent at a work luncheon. I ran errands all over town getting ready to host our friends for cake and beer. Our friend Kort's birthday was at the end of March but we didn't get to celebrate and go to the Escape Room like she wanted so we meshed the two celebrations and went for it. It worked well!

The Escape Room is just down the street from us so we walked down for an evening out on the town in Fishers- ha! The actual Escape Room is kind of strange. They lock you in a room and you search for clues to puzzles or locks to get out. You have one hour. We made it out with ample time to spare thanks to teamwork! It was pretty fun, but at over $30 per person I don't see us doing it again.
Victory!

Kort and Jackson were amped! :)

Group shot!
We walked across the street from the Escape Room to try out the new brewery in town, Four Day Ray. The company was great and we got to sit outside. The food left something to be desired. Boo. :(
Dinner at Four Day Ray
After a fun dinner we walked back to our place to hang out, have a few drinks (or waters if you're me) and eat ice cream cake. The two birthday kiddos love ice cream cake so I relented and ordered one.
MacK wasn't sure of Jason Mauck- ha!

Ice cream cake!!
Jackson had an awesome day. I was so relieved that when we crawled into bed at midnight that evening, I didn't crawl out again until 11 a.m. Hey! I work from home now and that was a lot of socializing!! We spent Saturday just hanging out together. We grabbed lunch at Chuy's (our favorite) before I went for a massage (I got a package of 6 from Jackson for Christmas so I can pretty much go whenever I feel like it- bless him) and Jackson hit the driving range. We did a bit of shopping with his birthday money and finished up our shopping for Mother's Day before spending the evening baking as a part of my gift for my mom.

Sunday was Mother's Day so we headed up to Upland to celebrate. My brother Aaron came over and we had a lovely day hanging out. Aaron got Jackson $40 worth of scratch off lottery tickets that turned into even more cash. Jackson was so excited. I think it was an excellent gift- it kept Jackson quiet and busy for like 30 minutes! HA! :)
Scratch off king! He won $59 from $40 worth of tickets!
We stopped over in Marion to wish my stepmom a Happy Mother's Day and hang out with her and dad for a bit before coming back home. MacKenzie adores days spent in Grant County because she gets so much play time from her fans up there.

Monday evening we had Susan over for a belated Mother's Day meal and then walked down for dessert at Handel's. Yum! After all of that celebrating we are firmly back on our diets and focused on looking good for the cruise. It made be too late now, though. Whoops. At least we had a great time!
