Headed for Maui

We decided that we'd done enough adventuring and since we had to leave for Maui that afternoon we'd just spend the day close to the resort.
Views from our hallway

Quiet mornings around the resort

The lobby at the resort was STUNNING

More of the open-air lobby
We went to TripAdvisor again for a local breakfast spot and it finally let us down. This place was just not for me. I cannot quite explain how bad the food was, but at least it was not super pricey. I didn't even write down the name of the place. It was that bad!
Local breakfast
After the breakfast letdown we headed to the pool to hang out until it was time to head for the airport.
Perfection. This resort was AMAZING!

The view from our loungers
We ended up sitting next to a woman from Fishers! We started chatting about where we were from and she is a doctor at St. Vincent's and lives over near Geist. Too funny! We're across the country and sitting next to a neighbor!

We finally tore ourselves away from the resort and stopped to get some lunch at Bubba's before turning in our rental car and heading for Maui.
One more stop for the BEST hamburgers!
Guys, it should be "shaved ice" and not "shave ice" but the Hawaiians disagree. I hate the stuff (it tastes like chemicals), but Jackson loves it.
It isn't a trip to Hawaii without "Shave Ice"

Clearly Jackson had been on the island too long and thought he could hula dance already!

Our flight to Maui was really easy and short. We grabbed our new rental car and headed for our Airbnb. We knew this place was not going to be fancy because we'd booked a converted garage for the three days we wanted to be on this side of the island. It turned out to be a really nice little room, everything we needed, but it was certainly not the Grand Hyatt- ha!!

We dropped our things off at the new place and then walked down to the local beach to catch sunset. It was absolutely gorgeous.
Just in time!
I love Hawaiian sunsets!

We headed to the grocery store to get some supplies for the week and went to bed early (as one does when they're still screwed up on time zones). Kauai was absolutely stunning and we are already excited to return to the island one day. Until then, time to enjoy Maui!
