Cleanin'

Today was one of those days where I just did not want to leave the house. I'd had a long, busy week and the last two weekends we'd spent driving across the West in search of adventure so I decided that I was due for a home day. Now, home days do not mean that I sit around all day and do nothing. Quite the opposite, actually. We slept in until 9 this morning. Ah, bliss. I then sprung into action. Saturday is change the sheets day at the Petefish residence. This weekend we also had to prepare for our guests arriving on Thursday! (YAY!! Grace and Kathi are coming to town! We cannot wait!) So our day consisted mostly of laundry, changing sheets, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning the kitchen, making dog treats and so on. Poor Jackson. He is such a trooper. I had him boil toothbrushes- we'd been traveling so I was certain that they needed boiled or replaced. He chose boiling. He also iron our pillow cases and place mats because I could not deal with their wrinkles. (The blog world is now collectively feeling so bad for Jackson. I know. I do, too.)

As you have been reading, there was not much excitement today. We did book our flights home for another visit. My grandparents successfully drove to Indiana from Florida and will be "summering" in Upland until October. They've been through the ringer this year with health issues so it was important for me to get home to see them. You just never know when your last visit may be. This is obviously true for anyone, but you get the point. I just love my Grams. She's so sweet...when she's listening to you. (Just kidding, Grams. She reads this blog, too, you know!) We'll be flying home on August 20th late night. Let's hope our flight goes more smoothly than my birthday trip home. (I did email Southwest and get a full refund for that flight which mostly paid for this one. Thank you. The power of the customer complaint is something I'll cover some other day, though.)

Jackson ran to the store tonight and could not find his wallet when he got home. After much swearing (him, not me, surprisingly enough), another trip to the store to look for it and a few minutes of searching the car we found it. Whew. I hate when things get lost. I was not that worried about his credit cards because they can be canceled, but we have a driving range gift card that still has a lot of credit on it that I didn't want to lose! And his wallet is Coach and was not cheap! Priorities! ;)

That's all that is going on here. We're getting very excited to see Kathi and Grace. I even changed my "write plate" to a greeting for them. Yipee!

Great to hear that you are coming home in August. Do you need the Petefish B&B for your stay?
At home days can be a good thing. I need one of those but it won't be this week. Love to all of you.

We are super excited and counting the days. Gracie is telling everyone who stops she is going to Denver to see her Aunt Jenna. Sorry Jack no mention.

I love getting housework done on those days when you feel like just staying indoors. It's somehow relaxing (except for those that you are giving the orders to. poor poor hubbies!)
