Just me...

Normally when I blog Jackson is sitting in a chair 5 feet away from me waiting to read what I have written- not true today. :( My baby is at a bachelor party gambling. Hmm. Here I sit blogging. Fair?
Moving on...

I have been reading the Mistaken Identity book this week. What a powerful read; such a sad situation. I think the families involved are awesome for being willing to share their stories.

Things at work are as busy as ever. I knew we'd be busy, but I could never have imaged this. I mean if it is not one thing it is 342,423 others. I can't wait for June. "June? Isn't tax day April 15th?" you may ask, yes, it is. Unfortunately that comes right before quarter ending payroll tax returns are due: April 30th. And then don't forget business property tax returns are due May 15th. So like I said: June hurry up!

I got to sit in the sauna tonight with Shannon. I love it! Just being all warm catching up my bestest...top notch there.

Well I am off to bed. I have a big day tomorrow of sleeping in before my training walk. 7 miles baby!

Go Kansas! Congrats to the underdog, Davidson. Since my bracket already sucks- thanks DUKE- I will continue to root for Jackson to prevail. As long as we beat Ethan!

Tax tip of the day: Fund your IRAs early to get maximum growth and to keep from annoying your accountant with the "I'm going to fund my IRA...I think..." crap. Nike said it best: "JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!"

Whew...

Well it was a great, relaxing weekend for Jackson and me. We did not go to the rental house at all. YES! It felt so good to just be at home. It was a great thing to do since we had CRAZY days at work today. Visa had the opening day of its IPO so things at Schwab were wild. My desk was buried today. I like being busy so that is ok.
MacKenzie gets her haircut tomorrow. She was starting to look a little shaggy. She is finally starting to come back to life after Heidi's departure. She was also a little lazy this weekend.
Not much going on here this week. We get a chicken pot pie tomorrow! That really is a highlight for us.
Sorry for the boring update. I have been spending so much time on my brackets. GO UNC!! I am calling it right now. I would also like to send a congrats to Tiger Woods for being well...awesome. I am so glad that I live in his era.

Tax Tip of the Day: Consider a home equity loan as a way to finance purchases- a car, a boat and so on- that the interest you pay would not otherwise be deductible.

And then there was one...

MacKenzie is back to being an only dog. We dropped Heidi off yesterday at Aunt Janna's so that she could be closer to Milan during his recovery. We enjoyed having Heidi and were happy to help Milan out. We got an e-mail this morning saying that the unclaimed money that Jackson found in Milan's name had been received. YAY! Leave it to Jackson to find money on the internet. Ha :)

The Indiana University Hoosiers have, again, let us all down. D.J. White tried his best, but he is only one man. They will not be making it through the 1st round in my brackets. I'd like to say thank you to Kelvin "I am a cheat" Sampson for ruining IU's last season that we'll be in town for (at least for 2 years). Not to say that we wouldn't hop a flight to sit in Uncle Duane's seats ANYTIME at Assembly Hall (hint, hint, wink, wink)!

Work has been insanely busy and I have never looked forward to the weekends more. I told Jackson (much to his dismay) that this working every single day thing is for him, not me! ;) I have really enjoyed tax season. All of the people who have so much stuff that it takes them months to organize it are coming in. FUN! :) (Sick, I know) They are always interesting but take a lot of time.

We made dog cookies for Ms. Madison, Macy & Addison last night. It so relaxing after a long week to hang out with Jackson and crank out the cookies. We look forward to a visit with the pups today or tomorrow.

It has been quite the adjustment going down to 1 dog: a quiet one! :)

Tax Tip of the Day: Structure your expenses. If you break an arm during the year then have that lasik you've been wishing for. Chances are your expenses will be over 7.5% of your AGI and you'll be able to write off some of the costs as itemized deductions.

A little mix of it all...

MacKenzie snoozin' this morning. So cute!

Hello blog readers. I hope this post finds you doing well.
Today was a mixed bag: some good, some bad. Work was well...work. Always eventful this time of year. We had a client stop in today that was honestly suicidal because of IRS tax warrants. I love, love, love when people decide to NOT pay taxes then whine to me- an honest taxpayer- that they're in trouble with the feds. Hmmm. Not so much. However, I do love a good story so I won't complain too much.

Then we had a meeting with a client who works a "jib." Ask me what that is and I'll tell you that I haven't got a clue. I know that he makes awesome money and gets front row seats at all of the NASCAR events, NCAA Final Fours and Superbowls. Can you believe the luck some people have? I told him he'd hopefully be watching my Hoosiers at the final four and he laughed. Jerk. What?! Like they haven't been playing well or something...oh wait. They haven't. Buck up Hoosiers. D.J. White can't carry you forever. I digress.

I cut out of the office a bit early to let my puppies out. MacKenzie has to take her steroid on Thursday and it makes her a little pee-pee machine (I hope you're not eating, Duckie!). She and Heidi would play forever if I let them. I didn't. I had to head to Westfield to help Jackson at the rental house. It is coming along nicely. If only we could get rid of our slop of a renter and his dog. I won't go into how I feel about our renter.

I looked forward to going for a "training walk" all day and when I finally got home it was raining. Like I said, a mixed bag day. Win some and lose some. It gave me a little time to blog. I am a bit worried that when the mini marathon comes along I won't be ready. If Susie in all of her 64 years beats me I'll just die.

My friend Cali Kate (can't wait to see you in May, Cal!) is a nurse in San Francisco who also keeps a blog (http://www.sunsetandthecity.blogspot.com/) and her job really makes a difference in people's lives. I had been struggling lately with feeling like my job doesn't really help anyone. I love my job and didn't want to do anything else. I felt lead to start giving charitably as we all know accountants make their money this time of the year. Jackson and I started really giving and have seen rich dividends from it (a little stock broker joke for my hubby). God has been so faithful to Jackson and I and we will continue to be to Him.

I think I have covered most of what was on my mind. I got to talk to my Dad for about 20 minutes today and that was great. It may seem silly but I count him as my best friend (next to Jackson, of course). I could not have asked for a more wonderful man to join my (and my mother's) life. I love you, Guy.

Tax Tip of the Day: Speaking of charitable giving...GIVE! You can take it as an itemized deduction so long as you gave to a real charity (a 501(c)(3)). Get proof though, the IRS is cracking down on cheaters! :)

Heidi lovin' on MacKenzie. Love it! :)

1st post!

My first ever blog post! Can you even deal?! I am sure you can so I will move on...

I have been recently inspired to blog from my cousin, Cortny, who just moved to Seattle and has a very exciting life there. Do not expect mine to be as great.

Tax season is in full swing for both Jackson and I. I am so tired. Extremely tired. TIRED.

That being said I think I will head to the couch for an episode of House Hunters.

Thanks for reading.

Tax tip of the day: Get your information together NOW. Don't wait until April. :)
