Kylie & Ryan's Wedding

It was finally time for Leo's destination wedding in Puerto Rico. Mom came down and stayed with us as we all had an early flight to head south the next morning. We had a tight connection through Fort Lauderdale but we made it without issue. We got our rental jeep, stopped for lunch then made our way to the resort where the wedding would be held.
On our way!

We got checked in, changed and headed for the beach. The bride was already in rare form thanks to some fruity island drinks so we all just hung out in that area for the afternoon.
We hit the beach immediately

We did a little drinking
We decided to go out for dinner in the little city outside of the resort. We had some delicious tacos at a local gem recommended by the bride and groom.

Saturday morning we took Mom and Diana out for some exploring before the ceremony. We tried to hit old town San Juan, but the parking situation was an absolute nightmare so we ended up doing more of a driving tour. We had to get Diana back in time to do Leo's hair so we headed back to that side of the island only to be greeted by an absolutely insane storm. I'd never seen rain like that. We missed most of the rain while we were at lunch, but it sure made us concerned about the feasibility of a beach wedding later in the day.

We worried for nothing. The skies cleared and the beach was ready for the wedding. Leo looked beautiful and the pastor was great. I loved it!

Happily ever after!
They had a really fun dinner at a hibachi grill on the resort property. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting Ryan's family, especially Grandma Mary. She was a hoot and a half. Leo and Alex are in good hands and we're so happy to have been a part of their special day!

Little buddies!

Jackson, Liam and Case
We were finally home and able to visit with some of our tiniest friends: the Mauck boys! Kortnee brought them down to Fishers and we had lunch then went to the massive playground by our house. Jackson had been dying to take them there since we discovered it and he was more than happy to let the kiddos play on equipment that was for older kids! Agh!

Buddies!!
We love those little guys! We played with them for about three hours and then took a 2+ hour nap. I don't know how parents do it. They're exhausting!

Kylie & Ryan's Reception

We got home on the 10th and promptly got right back to work. I flew back to Boston on Thursday the 13th to interview on Friday morning for a job at Harvard. Yes, that Harvard. The interview went well, but it ultimately was not a good fit for me so I passed. It was great to go out and learn about the position, though. I consider it one of the highlights of my career. HA!

I got home late Friday night and Saturday morning we headed to Evansville to celebrate my sister's upcoming nuptials. We got to town in time to join everyone for a rehearsal dinner of sorts. She is having a destination wedding in a few weeks so this was just a hometown celebration beforehand.
The happy couple: Kylie and Ryan
The next morning we got up early, hit Donut Bank (an Evansville must. The closest you'll come to a Vogel's Donut!) and got to the location early for photos. Everyone loves photos (sarcasm). It was super hot out so we shot photos quickly and then went into the venue to celebrate. They had the reception at the University of Southern Indiana's event center and it was lovely.

MAINE!

We got a kick out of this welcome
screen on our Google Maps

We got up early to head for Maine. I love no place on the planet the way that I love Maine (ok, maybe Vermont now, too). We decided to head to Ogunquit which is a little town outside of where we stay, York. We stopped at a highly rated breakfast place which was excellent save for the fact that they put CINNAMON IN A BLUEBERRY MUFFIN. This seems like a criminal offense. Honestly. Who ruins a Maine blueberry muffin by adding cinnamon to the batter? Tragic.

What could have been amazing...
ruined by cinnamon
We opted to take a walk after breakfast along the shore. It was gorgeous.
Just strolling along..

That's better

Maine is pretty much the only place where a B&B is fun at our age. We'd stayed here once before and decided to return. The location is great and the breakfast is always amazing.
Ready to leave the B&B for date night
This time, since we were a little outside of season, the B&B had a deal going with a local restaurant to get dinner, too! You know we love a deal!
Lobster bisque. YUM!

A caprese salad for the ages!

Another salad!

Seafood soup

Fish stuffed with crab

Cheesecake!
It was so. much. food. Luckily I did not like the dessert so that was a bit of a saving grace. As I mentioned their season is a bit short so it was a little chilly during our visit. That didn't bother us. We went out to walk a couple of miles in the morning and just soaked in the ocean air.

The lobster chairs were a nice touch

We are always looking at sailboats...
Our great adventure was coming to a close. We covered a ton of ground. We had a lot of fun. We love going out and exploring new places and visiting wonderful ones again. I feel blessed to have had so much time together to reconnect and enjoy.
