Thanksgiving!

If you know me, you know I hate the smell of cinnamon. This means that baking pumpkin pies for Jackson is a real effort of love. I decided to make two so that I could have a bake-off against Guy at Thanksgiving. Spoiler: Guy's pie won. :(

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and then came home to get rested for a busy day of Black Friday shopping. We didn't head out until noon, but it was still wild. Jackson was unimpressed!

Our new place in Florida

After a long day of looking at places physically (not to mention all the time we spent looking online), we finally found a place that screamed "home!" in Tampa.
Our new place is circled!
We'll be living in the South Tampa neighborhood of Hyde Park sometimes called SoHo. We're super excited to move in on January 5th!

We'll be about 2.5 hours from Susan in Naples. The is the number one asked question.

Other frequent questions:
Can we come visit? Yes! We'll have a spare bedroom.
How far is the beach? About 45 minutes. :(
Was rent far too much? Ok, no one asked this, but the answer is yes and Jackson will need to start donating plasma or something to help out. HA!

12 years!

I came across our wedding photos the other day and just had to share some of my favorites in honor of our anniversary.
My favorite wedding photo!
Two kids!
Laughing at Guy saying, "last chance to run!"
No looking back now...
I love this photo with my Mom!
The happiest bride ever. Macy and Madison!
This year we were in Naples for the big day. We finished house hunting a little early so we called an audible and headed to the beach!

 Gorgeous beach day
We decided to go a day early for our date since we'd be flying back to Indiana on our actual anniversary. We got into my favorite restaurant in Naples, Bice, during their happy hour time so we could actually afford to eat there! YES!
12 years of this view isn't all bad!

I love him a little more than this pasta. That is saying a lot.

Is it an anniversary without cake?!
Since happy hour is from 3-5, we were finished dining in time to catch sunset. The worst part of Naples in the winter is the early sunsets, but they are still gorgeous!
The sunset did not disappoint

Kicking off another year of marriage!
Don't let the photos fool you, this was the hardest year of our marriage. Hands down. It was HARD. Marriage is work and anyone who says it isn't is either lying or single! :) We made it, though. Here's to a better year and many more happy memories to enjoy.

Notre Dame vs. FSU

First, random photos of my loves.
Shameless adorable photo of MacK
Another one.
Be grateful I don't have children. HA!
We attended at fundraiser at Heidi and Andrew's church for a cause near to them. We got to put our names on a heart since we gave funds. Jackson looked adorable that night. Giving looks good on him! ;)
How cute is my date?!
Ok, the meat of this post is our trip to Notre Dame, Indiana to see their football team take on Florida State. Yes, this was my second FSU game of the year. It was SIGNIFICANTLY colder at this game versus the one in Miami. It turns out a November 10th game in South Bend is a real gamble when it comes to weather!

Actually just their admin building!

Interestingly, one of my very favorite friends from high school, Matt, is a priest at Notre Dame. We've stayed in touch but I had not seen him since college.  Luckily, he was available the day we were on campus. We got there early and he gave us a tour of all the highlights. Though I despise all things Notre Dame, I had an ND shirt from losing a bet years ago. In hopes of having a more positive experience I decided to wear that ND shirt for our tour. It worked! People were just lovely. It was SO fun to see Father Kuczora (still so strange that he's actually a priest) and finally mark a trip to ND off our Indiana bucket list.

Back to rooting for FSU
Eventually we caught up with Kortnee and Jason. We had lucked out and the local Holiday Inn Express had a last minute reward point room available so we grabbed a room and hung out trying to warm up before returning to campus for more touring.
Lame!

Finally, it was time for the game. We did not get seats with Kort and Jason as they were just too hard to get so we headed to our $170 EACH seats closer down to the field.

ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY DOLLARS PER TICKET. TO STAND IN THE COLD. $170.
Good seats, though!

SO COLD! Go Noles!

The bands are my favorite part
A packed house!
We ended up sitting near some really drunk people. An older guy kept falling into us. It was SO cold. The Noles forgot to show up. We ended up leaving just before half-time because it was just NO fun to be that cold and surrounded by obnoxious drunk people. The ushers were super unhelpful and I ended up sending a strongly-worded email to ND's Athletic department about our experience. They, naturally, never followed up with me. This was not much of an example of their professed religious affiliations...end of rant.

 Uncle Aaron's
MacKenzie got to spend one last evening with Uncle Aaron since Kokomo was right on our way up to the game. They have a special bond so it was important that they get more time together before we head to Tampa!

Speaking in Phoenix

I spoke at a conference in March and one of the attendees approached me after my presentation to see if I'd speak at an event his company was putting on in November in Scottsdale. Yes, yes I will. An all expense paid trip to Scottsdale in November? Sold. Unfortunately, Jackson couldn't tag along due to work commitments so I headed West on my own.
What a view!
I arrived on Sunday mid-morning their time and did not present until Monday so I spent the day preparing, enjoying some warmth and taking myself for tacos!
The BEST tacos.
The days of my presentations went quickly. I got excellent feedback and ended up being one of the highest rated speakers at the event. This mean they need to work on recruitment, but I'll take it!
All ready to go present...

MacKenzie turns 12!

Somehow MacKenzie is already twelve years old! She has brought more joy to our lives that I can put into words. I ordered a little cake for her from Three Dog Bakery and Jackson insisted she "blow out a candle" much to her dismay. We only had three candles so we did a one and a two and said that was twelve! :) She'll never know!
