Scones

MacKenzie napping during the scone baking session.
Susie is having a big tea party tomorrow morning to celebrate the ROYAL WEDDING! We are pretty darned excited for the big event. Jackson has decided that the name of Susie's bakery, if she ever started one, should be "Oh Sh*t Bakery" because she has a short fuse when baking. It cracks me up! I'm going to high tea tomorrow with some girls from work. It should be a really fun day celebrating the royals. :) Best wishes, William and Catherine. :)

B-A-N-A-N-A-S

Today we had a bread making disaster. Susie has to take homemade bread into her church in the morning so we bought frozen loaves and left them to de-thaw while we ran errands. Well our errands took longer than we expected and we had no luck baking the loaves. At that point Susie decided to make banana nut bread, but she did not have any nuts. CLASSIC! She also did not have much in the way of bananas so she was hoping that MacKenzie who is obsessed with bananas would not hear her crack them open. That did not happen. MacKenzie came from upstairs to beg for a banana piece nearly instantly. It was just so cute. It helped that MacKenzie got groomed today and looked adorable. She, of course, got a piece of the banana and we're pretty sure that banana nut bread without nuts or much banana will be awesome. ;)

Dinner with friends

Today was the first day in weeks that I felt human and had most of the day off. I was so excited. Jackson and I went to lunch, shopped for furniture and looked at electronics. It was so nice just to be-bop around town. We took a nap! YES! I love a good afternoon nap. This evening we had dinner at Shaya and Bates' house in Noblesville. Bates had grilled ribs and corn-on-the-cob. It was so good. (Thanks for hosting us, guys!) We watched "Space Jam" while we were there. Yes, we are far too old for that movie. Leave it alone. ;) It was so funny to see MacKenzie and Fiona (Shaya's dog) interact with one another. They have a fenced in backyard so MacKenzie did not know what to do with herself being out there all on her own. We think she will love it when we have a yard. We'll love it when we have a yard. Please, mold house, go on the market already. I'm ready to settle in! :)

K&G get Alex for a day

Kathi and Grace got to babysit baby Alex today. What lucky little ladies they are. And what a lucky man he is to get to spend time with them.
Alex has gotten so BIG.
He seemed to enjoy looking out the front window with Monty.
"Oh Monty. That is SO funny!"
I love that Monty sits up for photos. He and Alex look so sweet! :)
Grace helped give the little guy a bath. He looks tired!

It looks like everyone had a nice time today. It is so nice to get some photos of the little guy. I just love all of those people!

Tax day (sort of.)

Last night Jackson and I went out to celebrate the end of individual tax season. I still have another month to go before things really slow down for me at work, but it will be nice to have my weekends back from working my second job after this final weekend!
McCormick & Schmick's is one of my favorite places downtown to eat. They had a tax day themed menu for happy hour that made me laugh. They also have the best Arnold Palmers (tea mixed with lemonade) that you'll ever taste.
The skyline looked gorgeous from the parking lot. I'm not sure if you can see the sign that reads "The plus IRS equals theirs." It was my favorite tax pun of the season.

So anyway another tax season bites the dust (kind of) and I could not be more pleased to see it go. We did not file our own return until April 10th this year. A new record in being close to the deadline for us.

Mr. Big

I cannot believe how big our little nephew has gotten! He's huge! WAAAH!!

The Power of Words

I think this video is so moving and so very true. Words are powerful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hzgzim5m7oU&safety_mode=true&persist_safety_mode=1

Happy birthday, Kathi!

Dear Aunt Kathi,

I was going to wish you a very happy 38th birthday today, but you would not let me sit on your couch at the Coomes B&B this weekend. I have been forced to renege my well wishes.

Love,
MacKenzie

Just kidding. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KATHRYN! We hope you have a great day. We love you!!

Workin' like a dog

After spending the morning in bed feeling terrible and having Susie drive me downtown to get my laptop and work supplies (thanks again, Susie!), I'm camped out in the home office getting things done. I took a little break to switch laundry (the perks of working at home!!) and came back to MacKenzie keeping my spot warm. She cracks me up. She is truly unaware that she is a dog! I wonder how that happened? And yes, that is an EMPTY McAlister's sweet tea cup. Tear. I wish I had unlimited refills at home, too!

Baby boom

Please excuse the huge backlog of baby posts that just appeared on my blog. I promise to return to the world of being a boring old tax accountant soon. :) Is it April 18th yet?!

Illness update: We still do not have any clues on what is wrong with me. I continue to not be pregnant. Thank each and every one of you for that assumption. I'm exhausted and tired of doctor's offices already. Stay tuned and I will update you all when I know something.

One last thing. One of my favorite ladies ever is going to be having some surgery on Thursday. I wish her nothing but the best and she will have my thoughts and prayers as she prepares and endures this procedure. She knows who she is. :)

Meeting Logan

Christina (Blue) Caudell had her baby BOY on Sunday morning here in the Indianapolis area so Heidi and I went over to meet her little bundle of joy.
It just hit me that Logan was the first baby I'd ever met on the day of their birth. WOW! He will forever be in my heart now. He was 7lbs 15 oz and 20.5 inches long and just perfect. Side note: NEVER go see a newborn baby with a lady who has recently had a baby of her own. OMG. Heidi asked Christina the most wretchedly disgusting questions about the birth and other stuff. GAG. GAG. GAG. I nearly died. I just wanted to look at the end product and not think about any of the means. Thank you. :) (Our parents can thank Heidi, again, for us not reproducing!)
Momma was doing well and enjoying a salad and "having her body back!" It was so nice to see Christina and Ben on their special day. Congratulations, you two. Enjoy this special, special time. Thank you so much for sharing Logan with us! :)

JAX!

Sunday night we stopped by Heidi and Andrew's new place to see how they've settled in and catch up. Jax is a walking machine! He gets wherever it is that he wants to go. He has PLENTY of space to roam in Heidi and Andrew's gorgeous new house!!!
We got there just as Jax was finishing his dinner. He was a happy and messy boy. I love the mischievous face as Heidi is getting ready to wipe his face clean. :)
The new kitchen is so big that Jax has his own little playroom built right in! ;)

Alex is 1!

We took a quick trip down to Evansville to celebrate Alex's first birthday! I love this little guy!
He looked so cute in his birthday gear, but he did not seem to love it. He was also not a fan of the birthday song. He did love his personal cake, though. He was a mess after he finished with that thing.
This is the toy that we got for Alex. He looks so small behind it!
Alex washing himself up after a busy day of partying!

We had a really nice time visiting with all of our family who came down for the birthday party. We got to stay at the Coomes B&B which is always nice. Jackson really enjoyed playing volleyball with Gracie who is learning her overhead serve. He's such a kid at heart.

Jeepers

Jackson wanted me to be sure to post a photo of his new Jeep. I love driving it so he has not gotten to hang out in it much yet. Once convertible weather comes around he can have it back! :)
