Night mowing

Jackson's mower had been in for repair and our lawn reflected that. He started mowing tonight at around 7 and by the time he was getting close to being finished it was dark. He came in and grabbed his light stick and kept on going. I'm pretty sure our neighbors think he is insane. Hilarious. He's a wild man.

Cornbread website

Today Jackson send Heidi a text to ask her about how she makes corn muffins. We ate dinner there a few weeks ago and she made the BEST cornbread so I wanted to know how she did it. The conversation went as follows:

Jackson: When do you put the sugar on top of the cornbread?
Heidi: Before I put it in the oven, just sprinkle over top right before
Heidi: Who is this?!
Jackson: My name is John. I got your number from a cornbread cooking website.
Heidi: haha...that was a good one. My guess is Jackson?
Jackson: You got it Heidi. Thanks for the cornbread help.

We must have laughed at the "My name is John. I got your number from a cornbread cooking website." response for 15 minutes. We hope you laughed, too, Heidi. :)

I love this dog!

I got out of the shower the other day and had THREE toys waiting on me. I guess I missed play time?!
MacKenzie LOVES her "magic door" that allows her the ability to lounge and bark at all neighborhood activity.
I think she looks so cute when she carries around her little ball looking for a playmate.
She appears to be watching the Colts get slaughtered.
She waited on Jackson to get home from work the other day- laying by the door to the garage.
All snuggled up while we got ready for church.
Keeping watch on the neighborhood from one of the guest rooms upstairs.
She caught a few afternoon football games from the comfort of Jackson's lap.
She took a quick nap while I studied for the CPA exam this evening.

I plugged my iPhone in to sync my new music purchases and realized that I had taken a ton of miscellaneous photos of MacKenzie. I decided that I just really love that little dog. :)

PRESENTS IN THE MAIL

Today, after what seemed like the longest day EVER, I came home to a PRESENT IN THE MAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my goodness. I love presents in the mail. My friend Meg Parton (now living in Texas- try to keep up with the two of us and our addresses, I dare you! ;)) sent me some business books I had her read- I hope she enjoyed them- and a homemade, reusable grocery shopping bag. It even has side flaps so that it can be used in the little hooks the store has there for plastic bags. It is brilliant and ADORABLE. I was seriously elated. It was such a sweet gift to come home to and I told Meg that my new fear is being mugged here in Fishers for my awesome new bag. Did I mention that I love presents in the mail!? THANK YOU, MEGGLES!!! XOXO

Pure joy

Kylie sent me these photos of Alex today. He looks to love the swing. I have not seen such pure joy on anyone's face for a long, long time. What a cutie!

It appears that he will be a country boy after all...at least he is a cute one! I just love photos of this little guy- he makes my heart sing.

Grandparents' Day

September 11th was, on top of being a very sad anniversay for Americans, Grandparent's Day. (Thank you, Hallmark.) Anyway, our only living grandparent left is my Grams. I sent her an email to let her know I was thinking of her on her special day. You see my Grams has a cellphone, email and a Facebook account. There is no holding her back. Her response is so typical Grandma that I just had to share:

My email:
Hi Grams-
Thinking of and feeling thankful for you today. We love you!
Love,Jackson, Jenna & MacKenzie

Gram's email back:
Hi Jenna & Jackson,
I got your short message and thank you. Today is 911 day is grandparents day too. Kylie called me. Take care and love you both. Love you both and Mackensie too. Kisses.
Love, Grams

I love how she jabs me with the "short message" and lets me know that "Kylie called." Oh Grams, you will never be happy with me no matter what I do. That is Ok. I love you anyway. :)

Brian Luther Craig

My brother's obituary ran today.

(Please excuse the Chronicle-Tribune's lack of spelling ability.)

At the Zoo/ GO IU

Sir Alex came for a visit this weekend. We met him and his family at the zoo for a fun-filled 100 degree day! :)In what I believe the be his favorite part of the day, Alex visited the splash park. Uncle Jackson is always ready to play so he volunteered to run around in the water with the little guy.
"HOORAY! A bit of cool water!"
A little more playing before we moved on.
I love the penguins and so did Alex!
We took the train around the zoo. (Note: If you're going to the Indianapolis Zoo skip the train. It was not worth the time!) I was able to get a good photo of my Dad, Diana, Nick, Alex and Kylie, though.
We spotted a giraffe and its baby.
I love the monkeys!
That evening, after a cook out at our new place, Jackson and I headed downtown to catch the Indiana University vs. Ball State University with Shaya and Bates at the home of the Colts- Lucas Oil Stadium. We intended to just buy tickets there, but so did about 5,000 other people. I'm not kidding. It was PACKED. We eventually gave up on finding tickets and caught the game from the "Hoosier Country" bar in downtown Indianapolis, Kilroy's. We had a great time hanging out with Shaya and Bates. We love those two. And loved having little Alex up to visit! :)
