Down 5

Well my first week of the 1,300 calorie diet is almost in the books and I'm down over 5 pounds. I'm pretty excited. I have only gotten a little grumpy a few times because I wanted something and wouldn't let myself have it. For example, on Friday I ate at Panera Bread with my two favorite co-workers, Natalie and Amy, and Natalie got to have the baguette with her lunch. I eyed it the entire time she ate it. I was a little angry that I could not have it. My morning weigh ins keep me pretty honest. I track every single calorie on an app called "My Fitness Pal" and I also track my workouts, too. Let me know if you join the club and start counting. We can be friends on My Fitness Pal and motivate one another. (Does everyone read my pleading to join me in this fight against calories? I hope so.)

Dog Shaming: Monty wins the battle

A few weeks ago Kathi sent an email with some excerpts from a blog (http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/dog-shaming) with a note about Montgomery ("Monty") saying, "I might have to do this for Monty’s issue.  'I bark and have started breaking out of my cage cause I don’t like my Mom’s new boyfriend touching her.'" I laughed. A lot. Monty is such a funny little dog. Then Kathi let me know that she wasn't ready for her little brother (Jackson) to meet her new boyfriend yet. I cannot imagine why. ;)

I love that Monty was able to get John to bring him a box of treats. HA! I call that a smart puppy. Nice work, Monty. There is no shame in getting your way, puppy! ;)

**I'd also like to add that Kathryn spells her name as Kathy and Kathi interchangeably. You'll notice that her Instagram name is with a "y" but she generally signs cards with an "i" when she sends them. No, I've never met anyone else who does this either. I just didn't want my readers to think that I don't know how to spell my sister-in-law's name. I'd argue that she doesn't. HA! ;)

Matchmaker, Matchmaker

I have a real knack for matchmaking. You don't believe me? I was the matron of honor in a wedding that I setup.

Ok, now you believe me. Thanks.

Imagine my sheer excitement at setting up another match. The best man in above mentioned wedding asked me to match him, too. I couldn't think of anyone back then and it hit me last weekend during church: KORTNEE! Kortnee is my evil friend who just moved back to the area from Jacksonville. Why is she evil? She doesn't like Tim Tebow fans. Yep. I mean it doesn't seem like she should speak to me, honestly. She does. I said she was evil, not stupid. ;) HAAAA

Anyway, Kortnee and Ken will hopefully go on a date soon. I'll keep you all updated. I'm pretty excited about the whole thing. I think I may have missed my calling in life.

Anyone else need my services? You just let me know. I'm a great judge of character. ;)

1,300

I get to eat 1,300 calories a day now.

Let's just let that sink in.

Ok. I went to the doctor on Friday and learned that I've got some female problems and really needed to modify my diet (even further- siiiigh) if I wanted to be healthy again. Let's be honest, this kind of sucks. I have a bad heart genetically speaking, too. I've overhauled my eating for this entire year and my cholesterol numbers were still bad. (I did get my blood pressure back down to "perfect" so that was a positive.) That kind of stuff is enough to make me step away from the candy dish and onto the treadmill. Today was my first real day of commitment to the new diet and so far, so good. Jackson was so funny this morning when he said, "I've been thinking about your cholesterol and think you should start eating Cheerios!" HA! Thanks, babe. (That conversation only made me feel 82 instead of 28.)

Female problems? Yep. As it turns out my biggest fear- having a baby- is impossible at this time as my inside parts don't work properly right now. Bummer, right? I know. I'm only bummed because this issue is what is causing my issues with dropping weight. Honestly. I'm so annoyed. No, the doctors still won't remove my uterus as much as I beg. I cannot believe that not dropping my eggs is making me gain weight. I suppose this is a lesson in being careful what you wish for, right? I guess I won't wish for my girls not to work so that I can be thin. ;):)

Colts vs. Packers

My friend Kortnee got much sought-after tickets to the Colts vs. Packers game today at Lucas Oil Stadium. I was really excited to finally get into the stadium that I've helped fund with my tax dollars. (Hush, Kort, my taxes really did help.)
The sheer number of people at the game was astonishing.
The stadium was really pretty cool.
We feared that our seats were going to be just terrible but they turned out to be awesome.
Jackson's seat, on the other hand, left something to be desired. He sat separately because we couldn't find 3 seats together. I think he secretly loved not having to chitchat with me during the game. ;)
Cheerleaders
THE COLTS!
Sadly, the Colts won the game. I was rooting for Green Bay to win because I think Colts fan are obnoxious. ;)
Dusty, Kort, Me, Jackson & Derrik (aka Heinzy)
We met up with a few of our friends for a few minutes of tailgating before we headed into the stadium. I had to pee so badly that we had to stop in at an Arby's for me to go before we went any further. Kortnee waited outside with Jackson and proceeded to experience my everyday life. Kortnee is the friend that you'll recall helped put together my sports rules list posted a few weeks ago. Kortnee and I are really against mixing teams when attending a game live. While I was inside Arby's dying from the amount of urine in my bladder and the length of the line, Kortnee was outside interrogating a guy wearing a San Diego Chargers jersey to a Colts vs. Packers game. You see, Kort made the mistake of mumbling about his wardrobe choice to Jackson so Jackson called him over for an "interview." The guy actually offered to take off his jersey and give it to Kortnee. Hilarious.
In her final example of my life, Jackson got her a photo with her favorite sportscaster, Dave Calabro. Kort expressed her desire for a photo and Jackson made it happen. She was pretty shocked and excited to actually get the photo opportunity. It was really funny. I tell you, people underestimate how much Jackson takes care of things. There is a reason that I tell Jackson that he can make anything happen. He really does. I love that man. (Most of the time.)

I, of course, took a few videos for your viewing pleasure. The first is to try to show how crowded it was getting into the stadium. The second was to illustrate how LOUD the stadium was when the Colts pulled the upset and beat the Packers.

Moving. Again.

Well as long as everything goes as planned (God willing) we will close on the house on October 31st. We're pretty relieved to have it sold. What's next? Well, my Mom sells cardboard boxes for a living so I figure she can hook us up with new digs for under a bridge. Nah. We're going to stage ourselves at Susie's (she deserves a special place in Heaven for always letting us land there) until Jackson finds a job somewhere in the U.S. and we know what we need to do about housing e.g. move back into the rental house, find a condo around here, move to NYC (ok, fine, NYC is really just me dreaming...).

Selling our house has been one of my least favorite things ever. I'm really ready for the process to be over. I'm quite tempted to never "own" a home ever again.

Happy birthday, Duckie!

Today we celebrated Guy's birthday with my Mom, Aunt Janna and Uncle Duane at Mama Carolla's. It was so good. Guy wanted a photo of my mom paying for dinner because she NEVER does. (Little does he know that she treats me to lunch quite often.) I laughed. A lot. Mainly because I generally do not attempt to pay for meals either. I hate paying for food. I'd rather give lasting gifts. Anyway, it was great to see everyone and eat some delicious food.

I had the rare opportunity to meet up with my friends Amber and Christina this evening, too. We were supposed to have a "girl's night" but since Jackson was with me at dinner for Guy's birthday he just came along, too. He hangs pretty well with the girls. I love, love, love getting to spend time with friends. It is seriously so good for my soul.

Happy things

Jackson figured out how to make s'mores in our oven. It has been a delicious discovery that for the sake of my waistline I must forget. ;) New "recipes" make me happy.
Tim Tebow giving the "thumbs up for Lane" on Facebook this week. Lane is a little guy with cancer who has just won the hearts of so many. Tim makes my heart happy.
Only MacKenzie could look this cute after running over 2 miles with Jackson while I was at Pure Barre. That little dog makes me happy.

"A Little Bit of Heaven"

We rented "A Little Bit of Heaven" from Redbox this weekend. I don't even remember seeing it advertised last summer, but I like Kate Hudson so we rented it.
The result? This pile of tissues. I mean I cried like a small child during almost the entire movie. I LOVED it. It was so good. If you're having a day where you need a good cry and a good time to reflect on life, rent this movie.

We also rented "What to Expect When You're Expecting" which was decent and probably would have been funny if we had or wanted kids. We also viewed "The Five Year Engagement" and found it to be kind of annoying. What? I had Friday off so we had all evening to watch movies while it was cold and rainy. I love movie marathons. :)
