"Hurricane"

We really didn't get any of the predicted bad weather with Hurricane Earl. As you can see from the photos, we got a lot of thick fog. It rained a little bit. That was all. It was a real let down. (Don't you love Jackson's setup with the lawn chair in the living room with the t.v. plugged into hijacked cable? Classy.)
This all happened on Friday night. We took a 4 mile walk around the city and saw hardly anyone. The weather people had scared everyone. It was kind of awesome. We got to see things that are usually really crowded with tourists. It was so fun to explore our new city!

PWLC

Turks & Caicos Island

Yesterday began the Petefish Weight Loss Challenge (PWLC). Jackson, Susie and I will be weighing ourselves each Wednesday morning and reporting the progress. Susie doesn't want to lose much. Jackson wants to lose some. I want to lose A LOT.

I walked around the city today in the 96 degree heat just to jump start my weight loss. Ok, so I was walking to get our post office box setup. Still. It was super hot and I was sweating profusely.

I'm thinking of joining Weight Watchers- is that cheating, Susie?

Here we go- I'll be ready for a bikini by the time our Christmas vacation in the Turks & Caicos Islands begins! :)

The 'burbs

Last night we ventured into the suburbs for dinner and big-box store shopping.
I was so happy to find a Texas Roadhouse and a Target so close to our new home! Hooray! :)

The drive out to the 'burbs was nothing at 7:00 at night. With Gabby (my GPS by Garmin) at my side, I have no fear in this city. Without Gabby, I'd be headed home to Indiana in about 4 minutes. The traffic- so far- has been a non-issue since we can decide when to get out and about. It is not like we have a commute. It takes Jackson about 5 minutes to get from door to door of our place to his office. I actually have to cross the bridge where the Boston tea party took place, but that's also not bad.

All in all-so far- we LOVE this place! :) It is still sinking in that we live here now, though. Whoa.

GOLF Tourney

Jackson's new manager's boss sat next to Jackson's old boss at a seminar last week. (Try to follow that little diagram- whew!) Pete (Jackson's old boss) talked about how great Jackson was for the whole day. Bless his soul. This left the lady (her name escapes me) excited to meet Jackson. She did the other day and was quite impressed. He is going to have the Manhattan territory for work now. Woo hoo! (The earning potential in such a territory should be awesome- woot!) He'll get to travel in the city some and all kinds of other fun things. He has training in Chicago, Atlanta and Toronto for the next few weeks. I think it sounds fun. He isn't all that pleased with the training schedule, but such is life.

Anyway, all of this to say that his new job seems to be going really well. He got- wait for it- VIP TICKETS to the final round of the Deutsche Bank Championship. That's right. Mrs. Jenna Petefish will FINALLY get to meet (ok, fine, the chances of my meeting him are slim, but a girl can dream) TIGER WOODS. You all know that Tiger and I have had our ups and downs this year, but I actually cried when I heard that he would be playing. It has always been a dream of mine to see him play in the flesh. I had posters of him in my room when I was little. It is just really awesome. I'm also excited to see Phil Mickleson. Basically, I cannot wait. I'm going to be like a little kid at Christmas. One bummer: no cameras allowed. Seriously! I was beside myself. Would my photo of Tiger smiling next to a beaming Jenna not have been the profile photo of the century? Ugh. I decided that since the tickets are free then I can afford to pay one of the professional sports photographers to shoot my photo with Tiger. (I seriously came up with that idea last night as I was trying to go to sleep. Brilliant, no?!)

I intend to wear a golf shirt, skirt and cute flip flops. I also hope that I can sleep between now and then. I'm THAT excited! :) Thank you, Jackson (and John Hancock) for making one of my dreams come true.

NEW ADDRESS

As I mentioned in a previous post, we will be using a P.O. Box due to the short-term nature of our living arrangements (i.e. our 6 month lease).

I will check the mail each day on my way home from the office. Or perhaps in the evenings when walking Ms. MacKenzie. Either way, you can send us notes, presents, gifts, money, whatever you feel lead to send at:

P.O. Box 51680
Boston, MA 02205

Learn it. Use it. Love it. We'll look forward to hearing from you! :)

The view

Monday was a long day of moving madness, but our new place made it all worth it. The view is just incredible. We cannot get over the lovely view. I don't think we will ever get sick of looking out of our windows no matter what time of day it is.

I felt like it took me a long time to get settled in this time around. I might mention that moving across the country is kind of a pain-in-the-butt. I had forgotten how annoying it was in the 2 years that we spent in Denver. I finally feel like everything has found its place now, though, so that is comforting.

What to wear?

Our trip from Buffalo, NY to Boston was pretty uneventful. We drove through the "mountains" there. They were hills. Let's be honest. Perhaps we are just spoiled by the Rocky Mountains. I drove nearly the entire way with my convertible's top down. It was great. My tan lines show that I wore my safety belt. :)

We spent Sunday night on Waltham, MA since we couldn't move into our apartment until Monday night. Jackson started at John Hancock on Monday morning. We realized late Sunday night that he didn't have any dress clothes to wear. I went "box surfing" in the rental truck to get him an outfit. Jackson, obviously, interview with a man in human resources. He failed to inform Jackson that the dress code was business professional. He had to borrow a tie from an associate. The tie did not match his outfit. He was so embarrassed.

He dressed up on Tuesday and all was well. He went into work all fancy on Wednesday and they were having casual day. CLASSIC. He cannot win. I just laughed. Today was casual day and he knew about it. He participated. Hopefully he will hit his stride with their dress code now.
