A marathon?!

I did it all for the sticker.

No, we have not lost our minds. Or maybe we have. Either way, we're running a marathon in Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada) on May 3, 2015. I'll attempt to answer the most common questions we've received since making this announcement below:

1. WHY?
Jenna: I'm struggling with being 30 and feeling like I've accomplished everything I intended to already so I wanted to prove to myself that I could still accomplish cool things.
Jackson: I'm a competitive person and I know that if I set a goal that is as challenging as a marathon my competitive nature will not allow me not to complete my goal. In the preparation for achieving this goal I expect to improve my physical fitness and learn many things about myself.
Jenna: I'm not that deep.

2. Why Canada?
Jenna: I loved Canada and wanted to go back.
Jackson: We've been planning to go to Vancouver for a couple of years now and thought this would kill two birds with one stone.

3. Did you know that the first person who ran a marathon died?
Jenna: That used to be my first question!
Jackson: Ha! Yes, I knew that.

4. How long is a marathon?
Jenna: Not kidding. My boss asked this. 26.2 miles.
Jackson: *shakes head*

5. Do you have a goal time?
Jenna: No. Finishing is good enough for me.
Jackson: Under 5 hours with a stretch goal of under 4.5.
Jenna: FINE. Under 6 hours.

6. How do you plan to train?
Jenna: We're first following a Couch-to-5k program and then following a 32 week marathon preparation guide I found from a charitable organization dedicated to runners.
Jackson: By running. A lot.

I think that covers the questions we've heard most often thus far. We intend to do training runs while in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Maui, Honolulu, Naples and Palm Beach in the coming months. I know. Life is tough. ;):)

We've got about 270 days to prepare...let's do this!
