Susie and MacKenzie made it to Boston safely last night- woo hoo! We were able to meet them at baggage claim to begin MacKenzie's transition to life in the big city. Susie brought with her a vast collection of spices sent by my Aunt Janna. It was quite a happy surprise. (For those of you who are not familiar with Aunt Jan's spices- Southwest especially- I'm sorry. You're missing out.) Thanks so much for the supply to hold us out until the annual Christmas distribution!! :)
We stayed up late and caught up with Susie. It is always nice to have visitors in town.
Today we decided to get on one of the hop-on-hop-off trolley tours. Susie wanted to see the town and we wanted to become better guides when other people visit us. It was definitely worth the time and money.Thank you, John Hancock for all that you've done for our country and more recently our bank account. ;):)We went into the old state house museum. It was nearly 300 years old and still looked fabulous. It was interested to read up on all of Boston's rich history.
Jackson loves boats.
Susie enjoyed pointing out the historical significance.
The King of England's coat of arms.
The staircase in the old state building. Isn't that awesome?!
One Mr. Samuel Adams- he did more for our country than just create beer.
Jackson seeing the sights.
Susie got an iPhone. God help us all. She is getting pretty good at using it. It is a work in progress...
I took this photo for Jax Porterfield. He's a little young to read the blog, but so be it.
We hopped off of our trolley tour in Cambridge to eat at a restaurant we saw on "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives." Jackson loves that show. It was a burger joint. Jackson and Susie loved it. I hate my burger. That's just how life goes when one isn't obsessed with hamburgers, I guess.
Jackson at lunch. I thought he looked particularly cute today so I snapped his photo a lot. I guess absence (he was gone all week on business) really does make the heart grow fonder.
Jackson and Susie in the restaurant. I thought this was a great picture of the two of them! The restaurant was really small, but boy did they pack us in there!
Finally, we saw that the people of Harvard really are smart: they've got a Qdoba right off of campus. (I took this just for Guy!)
We had a really fun day. We walked over 7.3 miles total (can you tell that I love my pedometer?!). The rest of the night we just hung out watching television and catching up. It is so nice to have MacKenzie home! :)
