I've tried not to watch too much coverage of the devastation in Oklahoma. I think the constant news coverage just makes things harder on the people who are trying to recover. Therefore, I try not to give them my ratings. I did see this video posted on Facebook, though, and had to watch it since dogs are my favorite things. This little old lady doesn't just find a dog, she finds a miniature schnauzer. You'll recall our own little perfect MacKenzie is a miniature schnauzer. Annnd cue the tears! You can watch the video here: Woman finding her dog
(Please note: Jackson has a cold heart and thinks CBS planted the dog. Perhaps he is unaware that MacKenzie wouldn't ever let someone pile a bunch of things on top of her without making a lot of noise. And what kind of dog owner would allow that just for a great three minute video? I think he is just a sick, sick soul.)
I have to say this a tax practitioner and I know this sounds harsh, but every single time there is a tragedy new charities pop up to help out. A new charity is great and all, but running an exempt organization is a lot of work. A lot of times these "charities" never get established, have more expenses than income or go right into the founder's pocket. It is the sad truth. I'd recommend giving to an established charity such as the Salvation Army or the Red Cross (I've not recently reviewed their tax returns so I cannot say with 100% certainty that they're my favorite established organizations, but you get my point) so that you know your dollars are going to your chosen cause. This marks the end of charitable giving rant.
I love when stories of hope come out of such sorrow. I cannot imagine what these people who have lost loved ones are going through right now, but I know that God is still good. All the time.
