Pretend that I posted this around July 6th, please. Many thanks.
We were in Upland for Milan's memorial service and got to spend time with all of the Duckwall clan. Jackson was particularly happy to
have someone of his own maturity level play with Alex.

GOOOOOO! |
SPINNNNNNNNNNN |
We're stopping?!?! |
Alex was pretty happy to tucker Jackson out.
Success. Jack napped when Alex did. LOL |
After the boys had their naps, we decided to head for the Gas City "petting zoo." (Quit being jealous already, guys.) First, we had to get the carseat that my Mom bought installed into her van. It sounded quite easy to Jackson.
"How hard can it be to put in a carseat?!"- Jackson
A mere 20 minutes later he had it installed ;) |
Alex had time for another nap while Jackson "expertly" installed the seat...which tilted Alex at a weird angle that looked horribly uncomfortable. (I'm still chuckling at the sight of Alex trying to sit in that seat!!) Bless Kylie's heart she agreed to go ahead and get on the road with her poor son in this questionably installed contraption.

Alex tormenting Madison...just a little |
My folks' dogs are never quite sure how to react to a short person running around. It tickles me.
Momma's boy! |
Ok, so we finally found the "petting zoo" after getting lost in some weird campground in Gas City. It was...fascinating...to see people just throwing up tents near the river. To each their own I suppose. Anyway, we had the "zoo" to ourselves for most of our visit so that was a positive. We'd snaked a few quarters from Guy's change bucket so we bought the feed and headed out to meet the animals.
Let's do this! |
Alex started out a bit cautious as he's used to
real big city zoos and this one was a little...different.
Mom will feed him first... |
Uncle Jackson has no fear! |
I love Alex's cautious stance |
PIGS??!?!?!?! WHERE? (I don't see them either, buddy!) |
Turkeys. Of course. Why not? |
I'll just pet this guy! |
So the term "petting zoo" doesn't fit this place. The animals were all behind tall fences and weren't really the petting type. It was probably worth the $2 we spent on feed just for the laughs at how lame the place was. We felt really bad for the animals stuck there. Kylie did finally get to see pigs and we all realized the real reason we were there: her. She always tells us that "Alex loves zoos!" but we are on to her scam now. Really, Kylie loves zoos! HA! :) That's OK it was a funny experience on a gloomy afternoon. Alex even got to torment Uncle Jackson on the van ride there and back. Winning!
