Belize City

In Belize you have to take smaller boats to shore because it is too shallow at the port itself. The boat ride was pretty much the highlight of our day.

It felt good to be off to big ship and on to a speedboat.

We found a bar in Belize City that required you to spent $10 and then you had unlimited wifi. That barkeep was a genius. All the Americans were lined up begging to give him their money. The barkeep was from New Jersey and had lived all over the states before taking up at the Belize bar so we enjoyed our time chatting with him.

Belize leaves something to be desired. We got there around 11 and left by 12:30.

See? Not terribly exciting.

Jackson on the boat ride!

Inside on the boats we took. We sat in the back every ride (all 4 of them!) and on one trip I go my a out too far and instead of telling me to move it, the boat attendant grabbed my arm and I jumped out of my skin thinking I'd been bitten by a shark. The guy could not even stand he was laughing so hard at my thinking he was a shark. He said it made his Christmas. Jerk! ;)

I mentioned that we came back for lunch and then hung out at the ship's nearly empty pool. We had to watersides to ourselves and must have each gone down 45 times. I know, I know we're such adults. ;) At about 3 we decided to go for another boat ride and we ended up having the boat to ourselves with just one other couple. We enjoyed chatting with the locals running the boat and gave them an extra big tip for honoring our questions.

We went back and caught up with our bartender again so I could check my emails and Facebook. I'm addicted and I'm not afraid to admit it. The best part was that our boat ride back was during sunset. It was gorgeous and we even saw wild bottle-nose dolphins. Awesome!

We ended up at dinner next to the guy we sat next to on the flight from Houston to New Orleans. We keep running into him and his family. It has been fun to chat with them. We went to the comedy show and left midway through when it stopped being funny. Ha!

We of course came back to a towel animal. ;) All in all, Belize was a sucky port but we made the best of it, like we always do.
