But first a cute shot of Jackson holding the massive ropes that kept us in place at the port. HUGE!
There were a lot of other cruise ships in port with us so that contributed to the issues. You see, in Cozumel you get off the ship and head immediately into an outdoor shopping center where each vendor is trying to sell you (crap) things you don't need. They saw my IU hat (I borrowed Jackson's for the day to block the sun) and kept calling me, "Indiana! Indiana! Shop in here Indiana!" Umm...no. Leave me alone. They'd come grab you. It was terribly uncomfortable. So much so that we bought our Mexican vanilla (so good and so cheap!) and headed back to the boat. The whole walk back we got hounded by salespeople. Ugh!
We hit the nearly empty ship pool and had free reign of the water slides again. Lovely. It was quite warm and we've gotten pretty tan now.
After we finished at the pool we wandered back over to the shopping area because there were rumors of a STARBUCKS! It was the most gorgeous thing I'd seen in days. (I'm kidding. Kind of.) I hopped right in for a black tea lemonade. Yummy!
It didn't taste the exact same but it was a nice change from the water I'd been pounding for almost a week. (We didn't pay for sodas on the ship. That's insanely pricey and they serve Pepsi out of two liter bottles. Ick!)
Jackson thinking about life after we met our "life idols." We were outside of Starbucks (I was enjoying the 15 minutes of free wifi I got with a drink purchase) when Jackson struck up a conversation with the couple next to us. They were from Australia and had been traveling for many weeks on cruise ships and via trains and such. They were using their THREE MONTHS of vacation time that Australians get each year. They were really interesting people to sit and chat with for sure. By the end of our conversation they'd given us tips on how to get work visas for Australia and make the move. We think it may have been fate. It is
too bad that we don't have the Internet on the ship so that we can begin our research. (Side note: wouldn't us moving to Australia make for some awesome blog reading? YES!)
Anyway, the waters were calm and pretty in Cozumel. It was a really gorgeous day.
Jackson loved sneaking Coke Light (Diet Coke in America) back on the ship at each port. Rebel.
Since we had not spend much money on the cruise we decided to pay for an upgraded dinner last night. We were not disappointed. It cost us $60 after tip and we got a ton of excellent food: shrimp cocktail, blue crab stuffed mushroom, lobster bisque, clam chowder, lettuce wedges, prime rib, baked potato, 10 oz filet, onion rings, mashed potatoes, espresso brownie with ice cream. (I didn't have dessert. I'd also like to add that I didn't even come close to finishing my meal. The same cannot be said for the Mr.)
After they wheeled us from the restaurant, we went to the comedy show. It was pretty good.
We were dealing with kind of a strange issue that made me uncomfortable: I got stung by something under my boob and had a swelling sore that was throbbing. It was terrible and embarrassing. We had to go buy peroxide and like dig at my skin until the stinger fell out. Oh sweet relief. I was certain that I was going to need surgery. (I'm not kidding. I was in so much pain! I think my female readers can imagine my strife.)
Finally it was time for bed and we came back to this little guy. I'm calling it a stingray. Who knows?!
